On 02/21/2026, Clemmons Deputies were dispatched to a kidnapping at Wade Frye Lane. While responding, the reporting party stated that the suspect had left in a white flatbed truck. Deputy Peyton Idol, the first-responding deputy, identified the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop on the suspect's truck. The suspect pulled over, immediately exited the truck, and fled on foot. Deputy Peyton Idol then approached the truck, cleared the vehicle, and identified the juvenile inside. Deputy Idol then showed sound judgment by stopping himself and remaining with the juvenile, who remained in the truck. I believe this shows excellent judgment, as even more experienced deputies could easily fall into tunnel vision when pursuing a fleeing suspect. Deputy Peyton Idol remained with the juvenile until responding deputies arrived, then assisted in coordinating efforts to locate the suspect. Deputy Peyton Idol remained calm, cool, and collected, providing accurate, calculated information during a rapidly evolving high-stress situation. Thanks to Deputy Peyton Idol’s judgment, the juvenile was returned to his mother safe and sound in a quick manner, and charges were obtained against the suspect, who fled on foot.
