Air quality levels are in the YELLOW range Wednesday as winds begin to shift around to the southeast and high pressure slides eastward. This eastward movement will allow a coastal low to develop and slide north towards the Triad. This flow pattern should push the moderate AQI readings to our west for Thursday. This low could also bring increased chances for rain showers, especially in the southeastern part of the Triad. AQI levels should return to the GREEN range Thursday with the cloud cover and rain chances but as this compact low drifts off-shore Thursday night, YELLOW AQI levels should return Friday. We are monitoring the potential risk of more Canadian wildfire smoke coming into the region so stay tuned for updates if they are needed. (Bodenhamer)
